Project description

“All life is in fact a spiritual journey through which we discover ourselves so that we can become everything we could be and we were meant to be.”

The book was a long-term, complex project and was born after numerous efforts of research and seeks of the own path as a being, as a human. At first it was the painting project “Stairs to knowledge”, meaning the 55 illustrations which are part of this creative writing. But I’ve felt that I need also another form of expression and then I’ve started to write. By writing I was able to clarify myself the ideas and the questions that I was catching a glimpse of but I couldn’t describe them entirely. The soul needs recognition, expression. That is how we bring to the surface the light that is in us. Then we shine. The characters illustrated, almost all, are aspects of ourselves, of the self which must be known, explored and integrated. In my vision, art has become a path, a tool of expression, a way of grinding one’s own being and in the end a spiritual example. I cannot say that it brings something new in itself, my belief is that the Truth was given to us for a long time. Now I am just another person who seek to understand It. I believe that if everyone brings his contribution, meaning fulfills his purpose, they bring a ray of light over It.

The project has developed with me and the result is a path, a necessary road to crossed towards one’s own resources. The treasure from the depths of one’s own being is the grand prize. Self-knowledge but also of other aspects that come with it are shaping up as we progress throughout our own path. We are never alone and I don’t even think we could other way. But the constancy and the persistence are more than necessary on this path. To give up means to give up on yourself, to give up on helping yourself to grow.

The stairs as a theme in my paintings and later title of the book, want to somehow reflect the need for spiritual growth, surpass oneself, the acceptance of an effort, hard but necessary and willingly. We all seek for answers and sooner or later we conceive ideas with which we either live our entire lives or retouch them as we grow. The change is the constant and yet it is not always within our grasp. Our attachment to things, people or ideas is our frequent blockage in the path of spiritual growth.

It is not the mind that offers us the solution alone, just as not one hand does much but two. “The heart” seeks its place, role and when they are found appears and the efficiency with simplicity. The path is towards Self and leads us beyond the Self. The steps are the same but not all of us are treading on the same. The difference we make it ourselves through our identity although the destination is the same. Who we are is the most natural question and the answer is right our lives. Our life tells who we are or in the happiest cases who we become. The inner transformation is desirable and to be followed with the greatest skill we are capable of.
